Wish List: Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4

Had he lived to see it, 28 April 2016 would have been the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of the supercar company that carries his name to this day. To mark this important date in the brand’s story, Lamborghini has built a limited edition supercar in the great man’s honour, that has been unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

The Centenario LP 770-4 has a monocoque chassis and a body made of lightweight carbon fibre—coming in at a weight of 1,520kg. With a dramatic and angular design, the sleek, black paintjob of the supercar is highlighted by accents of yellow. Loosely based on the Aventador, the car uses the powerful 700 PS 6.5-litre, V-12 engine, which has a top speed of 217mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds.

The model is exceedingly exclusive, produced in only 20 coupe units and 20 roadster units—but as all 40 have already been sold prior to the car’s debut, there’s probably not much hope of getting your hands on one just yet.

The Centenario is a gleeful demonstration of the technical excellence and cutting-edge design that Lamborghini has cultivated a reputation for since its inception—not a bad birthday gift, if you ask us. £1,600,000, lamborghini.com
