News: TAG Heuer returns to the yachting world with its Carrera Skipper

The Carrera is one of TAG Heuer’s best-known chronographs, built to wear in a race-car cockpit, not on board a yacht—but the latter is exactly what this new Carrera Skipper is made for.

This latest addition to the Carrera collection is the flagship model for a whole new series that seeks to revive TAG’s beloved Skipper line from the 1960s, marking the brand’s return to the world of yachting.

Aesthetically, this piece stays true to the sporty charm of the original Skipper thanks to the navy-blue dial with splashes of green and orange via the sub dials and accents. The sub dial at 3 o’clock serves as a 15-minute countdown indicator—an all-important function for regattas, of course—whereas a 12-hour counter is at 9 o’clock.

All this sits within a 39mm stainless-steel case which—if you turn over—reveals the watch’s movement, the in-house caliber TH20-06, which packs an impressive 80-hour power reserve.

The Carrera Skipper comes on a comfortable navy-blue fabric strap with a steel folding clasp with double safety pushbuttons.

If this is just the start of TAG’s revival of the Skipper line, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
