News: Louis Erard teams with Konstantin Chaykin for wacky Time Eater collection

Louis Erard has teamed with a number of renowned watchmakers in its time, including Alain Silberstein, Vianney Halter, Massena Lab and Label Noir, and now the brand has collaborated with Konstantin Chaykin.

A member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), Chaykin has earned a reputation for his WristMons—wrist monsters—collection which includes the faces of some unique creatures. And the new Time Eater collection between Louis Erard and Chaykin is no exception.

With a one-eyed monster on the dial, not only will you be looking at the time, it’ll look right back at you! But this monster’s eye has another function, it’s an hour disc, too. What’s more, the small seconds indicator at 6 o'clock, has been dressed by Chaykin in a disc with pointed teeth, turning like the devouring mouth of an ogre—scary, right?

This freaky collection is powered by the Swiss automatic Sellita caliber SW266-1 with 31 jewels, 28,800 vph, and a power reserve of 38 hours. All this is housed in either a 39mm or 42mm steel case.

The 42mm version has a shiny green hour circle, whereas the 39mm has a purple hour circle. Both pieces have a silver dial with a sleek sunray wave pattern and matte black hand-shaped hands. Furthermore, both pieces are available on a black toad—yes, toad—leather strap; it is a monster-inspired collection, after all.

If you like the look of this spooky collection, you’d better be quick as it’s a limited edition of just 178 pieces!
