News: Breitling Chronoliner Limited Edition

Breitling has a long association with the world of aviation, having manufactured precision instruments for aircraft cockpits and tailoring its early timepieces to the needs of professional pilots. This legacy has remained with the brand, heavily influencing its design concepts and aesthetic. It should come as no surprise, then, that this limited edition Chronoliner draws inspiration from Breitling’s classic aviator watches from the 1950s and ‘60s.

Numbered to only 250 pieces, the rose gold of the case gives off just the right amount of warmth against the blackness of the ceramic bezel and matte dial. At 46mm in diameter, the watch provides a commanding amount of wrist coverage, and its black rubber strap has a nice weave-effect that mimics the steel mesh bracelet of the Chronoliner collection.

It keeps the adventurous spirit of the mid-20th century alive and kicking, featuring a chronograph function and allowing its wearer to read the time in three separate time zones. A date display can be found at 3 o’clock, next to the Breitling logo, and three easily readable subdials stand out clearly in off-white. Despite the amount of data it records, the dial is still clear and legible—a vital attribute of the classic aviator timepiece.
