News: IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph

‘Perfectly Swiss boatbuilding’ is the tagline of luxury motorboat manufacturer Boesch. You probably couldn’t find a better kindred spirit for IWC, who just so happen to specialise in perfectly Swiss watchmaking. In 2008, the brand paid tribute to the boatbuilder with a limited edition Aquatimer—this time around, it’s in the form of a stunning special edit Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph.

The chronograph is given a nautical touch with a beautifully rich mahogany coloured dial, which adds a vintage twist to the classical design of the Portuguese watch. The stainless steel case measures 43.5mm by 14.5mm on the wrist, and it features chronograph pushers that are similar in style to the bitts found on the decks of boats. Turn the watch over, and on the caseback you can see a mahogany inlay made specially for the watch by Boesch, bearing a quirky propellor motif.

The engine that powers the Boesch special edition is the in-house 89361 chronograph calibre with flyback function, which beats at 28,800vph and offers a power reserve of 68 hours. The watch is available in just 150 pieces and will only be available at IWC retailers in—you guessed it—Switzerland.
