Bucket List: Sosharu Restaurant

Opened March 2016, Sosharu is the brainchild of Jason and Irha Atherton, serving Japanese Izakaya-style (the Japanese version of the informal gastropub) cuisine from a restaurant and bar arrangement in Clerkenwell, London. Jason gained his experience working alongside chefs such as Pierre Koffmann, Marco Pierre White and Nico Ladenis, and has opened 16 restaurants of his own with his wife Irha.

The food at Sosharu, prepared by and created in collaboration with Executive Head Chef Alex Craciun, uses British seasonal ingredients for a casual yet refined eating experience inspired by Japanese culture and philosophies. Small plates of Japanese specialties such as sashimi, tempura and hibachi grill form part of a landscape of dishes intended to transport patrons to the Far East.

The a la carte menu consists of exotic and delicious choices such as scallops with nori, sweet potato and white ponzu; chashu pork belly with udon king oysters and ramen sauce; and Asian pear and avocado salad with tofu dressing and toasted sesame seeds.
