Wish List: Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti has set out once again to top the fastest production car charts with its latest offering, the Chiron—recently announced at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. Named after Louis Chiron, a race driver for Bugatti in the ‘20s and ‘30s, it’s a worthy successor to the mighty Veyron.

Where the above-mentioned had an output of 1,000 horsepower, the Chiron boasts a potent 1,500, and the 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 engine has been redesigned and upgraded. It’s capable of going from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds, and has a top-speed of 261mph—so it’s not a car for Sunday drivers, to say the least.

Weighing in at 2 tonnes, the Chiron has a carbon fibre monocoque tub and a newly designed chassis that reduces noise inside the cabin. An adaptive suspension system will also mean a smoother ride and more responsive handling. Not quite impressed enough? The blue beauty will also feature a drift mode—because, well, why not?

But even if you have a spare £1.9m burning a hole in your pocket, you’re going to have to move fast, as Bugatti are only releasing 500 editions of the Chiron—and advance orders are already flooding in. £1,900,000, bugatti.com
