News: Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon

We may just have reached the end of the summer, but the new release announcements for Salon International De La Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2017 have already started trickling out from participating watch brands. The world-renowned watch industry trade show will be taking place between 16 and 20 January next year, and will showcase the best, most beautiful and most complicated of new watch releases.

Vacheron Constantin is no stranger to SIHH, and the powerhouse brand has kicked things off with the unveiling of its Traditionnelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon. As we have come to expect from the brand’s Traditionelle line, this piece is a sophisticated timepiece with an exceptional level of detail in the finishing. The dial is available in either silvered opaline or slate with white or rose gold markers, and features a stunning hand-finished guilloché motif—while through the exhibition caseback, you can admire the beautiful Geneva stripe finish on the flat surfaces of the movement.

The calibre that powers this piece is the in-house 2755 TMR, a manual-wind movement made up of 471 parts and beating at 18,000vph, with a power reserve of 58 hours. Sitting above 6 o’clock, a stunning tourbillon spins with a cage that is constructed in the shape of a Maltese cross. The minute repeater is initiated by a slider on the side of the case, and when pushed, the gongs of the mechanism sound out the hours, quarters and minutes.

The watch is enclosed in a case that measures 44mm by 12.2mm, and comes in either platinum or 18k rose gold on a leather strap. As an extra nice little touch, the Traditionelle Minute Repeater Tourbillon comes in a special presentation box with a sound resonator, ‘La Musique du Temps’, which amplifies the sound and improves the harmony of the notes that the repeater strikes.
