News: Vacheron Constantin Overseas World Time

The world is getting smaller, but when it comes to keeping the globe on time, Vacheron Constantin is going big. Classically elegant yet still modern, the World Time is the latest in a series of spectacular new watches in the Overseas collection.

The dial displays an impressive 37 different time zones, but most incredible of all is the fact that this includes time zones that are off-set by half- or quarter-hour in relation to UTC time. The continents depicted at the centre of the dial are in the style of a ‘Lambert projection’, a type of map used for aeronautical charts. A sunburst satin finish adds dimension to the continents, while the oceans gleam in a velvet finish.

Around this central engraving sits a lacquered disc displaying the names of the international cities, and beyond that a translucent outer ring indicates the hours and minutes. An extra nice little touch is the sapphire overlay of the map, which indicates day and night by means of subtle tints that are synchronised with the 24-hour disc.

The in-house calibre 2460WT is an automatic movement with a 40-hour power reserve, featuring a rotor made of 22k rose gold and engraved with a wind rose; the exhibition caseback allows you to admire it in all its majestic glory.
