News: Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph 5930

Despite 2016 marking the 40th anniversary of the iconic Nautilus, this year’s Baselworld wasn’t the setting for Patek Philippe to unveil a new porthole-shaped beauty—but what we did get was just as exciting. So far, this has been the year of the world timer for the illustrious watchmaker—and the World Time Chronograph 5930 is a very special example.

Patek Philippe world-timers are well known for both their beauty and technical flair, but what makes the 5930 stand out is the inclusion of a chronograph complication—something not seen in the brand’s stable since 1940. Using the in-house calibre CH 28-520 HU, this exquisite watch features just one chronograph subdial—a minute counter above 6 o’clock—with no running seconds hand. A chronograph reset and flyback sit at 4 o’clock.

Around the edge of the dial, the watch tells the time in 24 separate timezones. The current time is shown at 12 o’clock—to activate the world timer, you simply need to press a button at 10 o’clock to change the timezone location.

At just 12.8mm thick, the 5930 features a beautiful blue guilloché dial within an elegant white gold case. Slim and sophisticated, the piece features vintage-style lugs and dauphine hands.
