News: Greubel Forsey Signature 1

Purveyors of high-end luxury, Greubel Forsey is honouring traditional watchmaking with the release of the Signature 1. The watch is the first in a new initiative that will allow Greubel watchmakers to create an original watch of their own design in collaboration with their employers—with the ultimate prize of having their name feature on both the dial and the calibre of the piece. The venture is part of Greubel Forsey’s commitment to preserving traditional watchmaking expertise.

The Signature 1 is limited to only 33 pieces in platinum and gold and 33 pieces in stainless steel, and maintains the reputation for premium watchmaking that Greubel Forsey has built for itself since its launch in 2004. Created by Didier Cretin—and with his name emblazoned on the dial—the watch was six years in the making, and has the level of technical and aesthetic sophistication you might expect from such dedication.

At only 11.7mm thick, it’s the thinnest watch from the brand to date and features hours, minutes and seconds indicators. The Signature 1 uses Greubel’s new in-house balance wheel system—and through the open worked style dial, you get to admire the movement beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour.
