News: Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture

With Baselworld 2017 just around the corner, Frederique Constant is taking the opportunity to debut a new watch to its Classic Manufacture Collection: the Worldtimer. The watch is capable of displaying the time in 24 different world cities, and boasts a subtle rose gold and chocolate brown colour scheme that looks both elegant and contemporary.

The 24 cities are displayed around the edge of the dial, alternating over two rows. Indicators for the local and second time zones sit within these two rows, over a beautifully engraved depiction of a world map. The hands are elegantly paddle shaped, and are lumed in the same manner as the spherical hour indices.

The watch makes use of the FC-718, an in-house automatic movement that boasts the worldtime complication, as well as a date function—displayed via a beautifully engraved subdial at 6 o’clock. The movement offers 42 hours of power reserve, and beats at 28,800vph, while the time, date and worldtime complication are all set via a single crown, which has three positions—one for each function.

The result is a clean, attractive looking rose gold plated case, that measures 42mm in diameter. Paired with the brown dial and similarly coloured leather strap, the effect is a confident, versatile looking watch that would match both a smart work suit, or a casual shirt and jeans.

Considering the difficult complication that this watch boasts, the Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture has a price point smaller than you might expect, retailing at €3,795, or £3,235. It’s the perfect wristwatch for the modern world traveller—smart, sophisticated and incredibly affordable.
