News: F.P.Journe Centigraphe Souverain Anniversaire

F.P. Journe hasn't been around for long, but in that short time, it has garnered a lot of positive attention in the watch world. It was founded in 1999 by French watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe, whose vision for his watch brand can be summed up its motto: invenit et fecit. For those among us who aren't Latin scholars or ancient Romans, that essentially means 'invented and made'—referring to the fact that every piece produced by this independent Swiss watchmaker is crafted entirely in-house, and to the meticulous standards of the founder himself. The result is a relatively small and exclusive line of watches that are of first-rate quality, which is something definitely worthy of celebration.

F.P. Journe now has boutiques across the world, from Switzerland to Lebanon—but the brand's first two boutiques were opened in Hong Kong and Tokyo, and to mark their 10th anniversary, a special anniversary edition of the Centigraphe Soverain has been created. The Hong Kong boutique will sell 20 pieces, while the showroom in Tokyo will add a further ten to that count—as well as putting on a retrospective exhibition of previous anniversary models.

The already well-received Centigraphe Soverain—aside from being a beautiful looking watch—is special in the fact that it is a chronograph with the capability of timing to a 100th of a second. The anniversary model will still sport the line's distinctive ruthenium dial, with three chronograph subdials at 2, 6 and 10 o'clock. The case is 40mm polished titanium, highlighted by the 18k gold of the crown and rocker and comes on a burgundy alligator strap.

Each limited edition model will be numbered, followed by the name of its city of origin; F.P. Journe is planning to extend the anniversary tradition to more of its boutiques over the coming years.
